Jagan unhappy over assembly session

YSRCP chief and Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed dissatisfaction about the way in which the assembly sessions were held.

Talking to mediapersons after the five-day session was adjourned sine die, YS Jagan said despite the party’s insistence, the government chose to have the session only for five days. Even during the five days, nothing worthwhile was discussed. He said though a proper notice under Section 344 was given for a discussion on Cash for Votes scam, the speaker refused to entertain it.

“This is for the first time that a chief minister was caught red-handed buying votes. Yet, the discussion was not allowed. It is a travesty of democracy,” he said.

YS Jagan said the Pattiseema scam money worth Rs 150 crore were used to buy MLAs in the neighbouring state. “The chargesheet mentioned Chandrababu’s name 22 times. Yet a discussion was not allowed. The CM remained in his chambers and did not chose to come to the house to defend himself. This is unprecedented,” YS Jagan said.

He also said that a debate on special status was very important and the government is not addressing the issue of Polavaram project. “Polavaram is the mother of all irrigation projects. Yet, the government is preferring Pattiseema project, which is utterly useless,” he said.

YS Jagan said that he would organize a deeksha on the issue. The dates, he said, would be decided at the upcoming party meet.
