New Delhi: Taking the issue of defections to the national Capital, Leader of the Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday said that the issue was brought to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the Save Democracy campaign and sought to disqualify the turncoats. Jagan took exception to the decision to field a candidate for the top post of President.

Speaking to media persons here in the city, Jagan said that PM Modi was apprised of the events how the ruling TDP had lured the YSRCP legislators to its fold.

"While the defections are against the democratic spirit, accommodating some of the YSRCP MLAs into AP Cabinet is far worse," Jagan pointed out.

President Pranab Mukherjee and several other political leaders were also apprised of the defection issue, he said.

Welcoming the Centre's move to give Rs 5,000 per quintal to the distressed chilli farmers, Jagan told the Prime Minister that it would be beneficial to farmer if the state government also add Rs 3,000 per quintal to the produce.
