Jagan cites Niemöller to awaken his counterparts in the country

While referring to the famous “First they came …” quote of Martin Niemöller, the German anti- Nazi theologian, YSR Congress party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy warned his counterparts of various parties in the country to be wary of the intrigues of Congress party to tear off the States for its vote bank politics.

During his 45-minute stimulating speech, went on with different nodes and notations, Jagan appealed to the leaders including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerji, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and some other Chief Ministers, who have been dealing with the ‘separatist’ demands in their respective states, not to be apathetic on the plight of Andhra Pradesh.
In this context, he referred to Niemöller and cited his quote in Telugu. “First they came for the communists,/and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist./ Then they came for the socialists,/ and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist./ Then they came for the trade unionists,/ and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist./ Then they came for me, / and there was no one left to speak for me.”
He compared Nazi’s strategy of subsequent abolition of their chosen targets one by one, to the political tactics of UPA, led by Congress party.
“Congress High Command takes the sloth of our leaders for granted and started taking unilateral decisions to tear off the States into pieces. Niemöller quote should awaken us. Don’t be silent on the atrocious act of bifurcating Andhra Pradesh. Tomorrow, you may also get affected and there would be none left to speak for you,” he said.
