Jagan case: CBI files three chargesheets

As the Suprme Court's deadline to file final chargesheet in YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's assets case ended, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday filed three chargesheets at the special court in Gagan Vihar.

The three chargesheets were filed in connection with the India Cements, Penna Cements and Bharati Cements issues. As the Nampally court judge is not working today, the CBI filed the charge-sheets at the Gagan Vihar court. DIG Venkatesh submitted the three chargesheets in a sealed cover. So far, eight chargesheets have been filed. Jagan has been lodged in jail for over 15 months now.

The CBI filed the charge sheets naming 25 accused and charging them under various sections of Indian Penal Code.

CBI gives Ponnala clean chit in Jagan's case

The CBI gave a clean chit to IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and former Home Minister Sabitha Indira Reddy as their names were not mentioned in the chargesheet.

The CBI had questioned Ponnala for two days in the past raising speculations that his name might figure in the chargesheet.

It is a known fact that  Sabita and Ponnala Lakshmaiah were also among six ministers who received notices from the Supreme Court for passing the controversial 26 GOs.

Jagan can apply for bail now: Lawyer

The CBI told the court that only one chargesheet remains in Jagan's case, said Jagan's lawyer Ashok Reddy in Hyderabad.

He also said that the remaining chargesheets would be filed in two to three days. The lawyer also said that Jagan can now apply for the bail petition at a lower court according to the Supreme Court ruling a few months ago.
