Jagan accuses Sonia of nepotism on dividing AP

YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made a scathing attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi for bifurcating Andhra Pradesh for her ‘vested interests’.

“She (Sonia) is dividing the State merely with an intention of making his son as Prime Minister of India,” he said on Saturday at the Lotus Pond venue, where he started indefinite hunger strike against the Centre’s decision to divide the State. (Read here)

He declared that his party will challenge the Cabinet's decision in the Supreme Court."We would definitely seek Supreme Court’s intervention in Centre’s unilateral decision to divide the State," Jagan said, adding that he would be sending a delegation to Delhi to request all the floor leaders for the solidarity with Seemandhra.

Talking to Sakshipost, Jagan contended with the argument that decision on Telangana is irrevocable. “When the controversial Ordinance was withdrawn, why not the decision on Telangana?” he said, while referring to Rahul Gandhi’s intervention in taking back the Ordinance on convicted lawmakers. “Seemandhra has been on the emotional surge for more than 60 days with unabated protests, dharnas and strikes. Why it is unheeded and totally ignored by the Centre?” Jagan said.Jagan further said that he is opposing unilateral style of functioning where assembly resolution means nothing. "It is unprecedented that the State is going to get bifurcated without an assembly resolution. why is no one talking about Bodoland, Gorkhaland or Vidharba? “he said."How can the Group of Ministers solve such major issues in a short period of six weeks?  Water sharing disputes are acute between states despite Tribunals. Karnataka and Tamil Naidu are still fighting it out on sharing of Cauvery waters. How can the solutions emerge, when the Union government is not letting the State to remain united?. It is not right to split a country for votes just a few months before elections" he questioned. When asked about Chandrababu's proposed indefinite fast in Delhi, Jagan demanded the TDP chief to withdraw his earlier letter in favour of the State division and give a letter afresh, in support of Samaikyandhra."What exactly is his stand? He (Naidu) must make out his mind clear,” he said.
