Across the world, two movies have ruled Twitter this year with tweets, retweets, and hashtags. Guess what? Surprisingly they are not any Bollywood movies but movies from the South industry.

Yes, you read that right. One is Prabhas' Baahubali and the other is Vijay's Mersal. Prabhas' Baahubali 2 has been in the news ever since the first part released. The audience lost their sleep wanting to know who killed Kattappa. Besides, Baahubali 2 also received a tremendous response and did some brisk business at the worldwide box office. The movie stood at No.1 position across the globe.

On the other hand, Vijay's Mersal has been in the news for making a mockery of Modi's digital India initiatives GST and demonetisation. The ruling party BJP didn't want that scene to be a part of the film and eventually got it deleted from the final cut. On the internet, however, it went viral.

The movie has earned Rs 17 Cr within three days at the ticket window, a record for any Tamil movie. Vijay's Mersal even beat Rajinikanth's Kabali in several categories. It is a rare thing that two south films have become major trendsetter on twitter while Bollywood movies took a backseat. It's celebration time for the fans of Prabhas and Vijay fans.
