Is TDP in favour of Spl. Status or not

Hyderabad: Questioning the veracity of Chandrababu Naidu’s Delhi tour, YSR Congress has said the he should answer the core issues whether or not he and his government is in favour of special status forAndhra Pradesh as his silence on the issue points towards working out a compromise formula to wriggle out from the various allegations he is facing in lieu of state’s interests.

‘The Delhi tour appears as if to save his skin from the various scams, including the cash for vote scam and to put his personal and political interests ahead of the interests of the State. Before meeting the Prime Minister, he should categorically sate if his government is in favour of the special status or not,’ party MLA RK Roja told reporters here on Monday.
At a time when the Centre has categorically stated that according special status to Andhra Pradesh is not possible, the State has failed to respond in a befitting manner and the TDP leaders have been giving contradictory statements.
‘The Chief Minister has to make it clear whether his Party will continue in the Union Cabinet after such statements from the Central ministers,’ she said.
It was only YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who broached the subject with all the concerned people in Delhi but there is no record of Naidu or his Party leaders speaking of the Special Status.
There are other issues as well which were not taken up with the Centre by TDP which shows that there is a secret deal. When the MSP is increased very nominally, the State did not raise the issue with Centre. It did not mount pressure to seek funds to fill the revenue deficit of Rs 14,000 crores and not a word on Polavaram project.
‘The silence is only to trade the special status issue for personal and political gains,’ she said adding that TDP government has the history of placing personal interests ahead of State’s interests.
‘At a time when the State is reeling under serious problems, TDP has been chalking out strategy to contest polls in Andaman and Nicobar islands, may be to squander away the ill-gotten wealth.
The August 29 bandh is in the State’s interest and people opposing the bandh are against the State development. The State may try to misuse official machinery but the mood of the people is against the establishment and its vehemence to repress the people’s ire,’ she said.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has raised the issue in the Assembly as well and sought a resolution to be passed and asked for an All-party delegation to Delhi to pressurize the Centre, but TDP did not yield.
Any Party, establishment or organization supporting Special Status for the State can join the August 29 bandh, including Pawan Kalyan, who rushed to the capital region after YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced the dharna programme.
His speech had no conviction or force and lacked the tone of any assurance, she said.
When the land needed for capital is just 3,000 acres, why the State has been acquiring large extent of lands has no convincing reply other than to pursue the business interests, she said.
