Politicians are known to accuse one another in the name of having more money, land grabbing, shady property deals, even religion is sometimes thrown in for good measure. But rarely, if ever, has age been an issue of contention.
However, Andhra politics saw a different kind of rift, when the age of Ponnala Lakshmaiah, TPCC president was brought into picture by sitting MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. The duo have been sparring over Bhongir seat.
As per reports, Rajagopal has been vehemently opposing Ponnala's ambition of contesting from Bhongir and leave Jangaon Assembly seat to his daughter-in-law. The duo reportedly had a major altercation over the issuing of MP ticket.
Rajagopal also expressed his displeasure before Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
According to a news channel, Rajagopal asked Rahul as to how Telangana PCC chief post was given to a 72 -year-old man. He maintained that it would have better had the post gone to a younger leader.
This comment has shocked many a political leader. And though, Rahul has not really taken Rajagopal's comments seriously, Ponnala's age has become a hot topic of the discussion in the political circles, with many finding it difficult to believe that Ponnala is actually 72.
