Is this Congress MLA a car thief?

Congress MLA from Assam Rumi Nath has been arrested in connection with an all-India car theft racket.

The MLA is allegedly linked to a car-theft gang that has resorted to car-lifting in various parts of the country, including New Delhi.

The MLA and her second husband are in the dock with charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating and harbouring an offender. The MLA second husband Jacky Zakir was arrested on April 8. Her personal security officer has also been arrested. The MLA has issued car passes to noted international car thief Anil Chouhan into the highly-protected Assembly area. She has already been served notices by the Assembly secretariat and the Congress Party in Assam.

The MLA alleged it was a conspiracy to defame her and expressed the hope she would come out unscathed. However, the MLA has been quite controversial. Two years ago, she had left her first husband and had married Jacky Zakir. She changed her religion, for which some voters in her constituency attacked her. She is already facing bigamy charges from her first husband Rakesh Sharma, who is a physician. The MLA too is a medical professional.
