Is Congress trying to form coalition govt in Maharashtra?

Maharashtra politics suddenly hotted up with the reports that the Congress is trying to cobble up a coalition with Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and get outside support from the Shiv Sena to deny the BJP a chance to form the government.

Making a sensational disclosure on Monday, Ajit Pawar of the NCP said that the Congress had approached him with the proposal. The NCP had already made an 'unconditional' offer to give outside suport to the BJP if it forms the government.
Meanwhile, even as the impasse over government formation in Maharashtra continues following a fractured mandate in the Assembly polls, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with the newly-elected legislators here. The meeting ended inconclusively without any decision on supporting the BJP.
