Is BJP moving away from the TDP in Andhra Pradesh?

The BJP appears to be giving a serious thought to growing in Andhra Pradesh independently. It wants to develop on its own and keep the TDP, which is the dominant partner of the alliance, at bay.Party’s senior leader and MLC Somu Veerraju, who unlike state president Haribabu appears to be strident, is giving enough indications that all is not well within the alliance.

The party has already constituted a four member committee with Somu Veerraju, Kanna Lakshminarayana, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Shanta Reddy to meet various district committees and elicit their opinions. They have already covered five districts and feel that there are enough reasons for the BJP to emerge as a strong alternative to the TDP.
The BJP is also sore that the TDP leaders are making use of every opportunity to slam the Centre. They feel that the TDP is using media to vilify BJP. “Despite the PM assuring that his government would implement every assurance given in the AP bifurcation bills, TDP MP Galla Jaydev and actor-MLA Balakrishna made disparaging comments. What does tis mean?” asked Somu Veerraju in an exclusive interview to Sakshi. He also took objection to the AP government not placing the photo of Narendr a Modi in Centrally-sponsored Indradhanush scheme. “The Telangana government had highlighted Modi, but the Andhra Governmetn chose not to. How should one understand these,” he asked.
Veerraju also indicated that that the party was not in favour of centralized development in the name of AP Capital. The development must be equitable and all regions should develop equally. “Already, there is some discontent in Rayalaseema and North Telangana. We want the government to accord equal priority to Polavaram and Handri Neeva, which would benefit these regions,” he said.
