Tension is palpable in TDP over Nandyal by-election. The TDP, which is fielding turncoat MLA Bhuma Akhila Priya's brother Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy as its candidate, has lost senior leader and former minister Silpa Mohan Reddy to YSRCP.

Hugely popular Silpa Mohan Reddy has managed to wean several councillors and even civic chief in Nandyal. This has made the task of TDP very difficult. Anti incumbency, opposition to Bhuma Akhila Priya's approach towards seniors and popularity of Silpa family have been giving sleepless nights to the TDP workers.

A worried Chandrababu undertook a two-day tour of Kurnool, especially Nandyal and met the party workers on Thursday. When several people came to meet him and sought his intervention in finding solutions to their long pending problems.

During his speech, Chandrababu admitted that to win the elections, he had to make some compromises and in the process displeased some seniors. Some senior TDP leaders have suffered losses on this count, he said.

He also literally threatened the voters that if they do not vote for him, they would not get any benefits. "You are satiating your hunder through the rice given by me. You are walking on the roads laid by me. So, you must vote for me," he said.
