I have full faith in the court... Jai Hind: Owaisi

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad MP and president of AIMIM, Asaduddin Owaisi, who on Sunday challenged that he would not chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ even if he was threatened with a knife at his throat, on Tuesday expressed his faith in the courts of law and chose to use a more ‘secular’ slogan ‘Jai Hind’.

Owaisi had courted controversy earlier this week when he stated in a public speech that he would not chant the slogan ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. He was reacting to the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comments that the new generation in India should be taught to hail the slogan.

Owaisi’s comments had caused quite a stir, both in and outside the Parliament. Venkaiah Naidu had derided him in the Parliament and Ramdas Kadam, the spokesperson for Shiv Sena said that those who do not chant the slogan should move to Pakistan.

It is being reported that a court case has been filed against Owaisi for his comments under IPC section 124A.

Speaking to ANI, Owaisi issued a brief statement that ended with the slogan ‘Jai Hind’. He said “I have full faith in the court; it will do justice, Jai hind”
