Telugu Journalist Tests Positive For COVID-19 In Delhi

DELHI: A journalist working for a Telugu news channel based in the capital city of Delhi tested positive for COVID-19 virus. Tests were conducted at the Apollo Hospital on Friday and after the results came positive for coronavirus on Saturday, he was immediately shifted to the isolation ward there.

Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) President and Media Academy chairman Allam Narayana and TUWJ chief secretary Maruti Sagar spoke with Delhi TUWJ president Praveen Kumar and chief secretary Pradeep Kumar and sought their help for the journalist. The Media Academy came forward and extended financial assistance of Rs. 20,000 for his hospitalisation and or the journalist’s family to meet basic expenses. The TV Channel management where he works, extended a financial aid of Rs. 1 lakh for his medical expenses.

Upon the request of the TUWJ members former MP Konda Vishweswar Reddy also spoke with the health authorities at Apollo Hospitals. Meanwhile the family members and all primary contacts of the journalist have been kept under quarantine.

The Vice-President, M. Venkaiah Naidu and Minister of State for Home Affairs , G. Kishan Reddy also spoke with the management of Apollo Hospitals and inquired about the reporter’s health condition. Union Minister Kishan Reddy assured that COVID-19 tests would be conducted for all the Telugu media journalists working in Delhi.
