Surprise Showers: It’s Chai-Pakoda Time For Hyderabadis!

HYDERABAD: The temperature in the city dropped to almost nine degrees within 24 hours across the city following the sudden spell of rains from Saturday evening. These surprise showers have caused temperatures dipping to 23.4 degrees Celsius from 32 degrees Celsius by Sunday evening and has lead to another cold spell for Hyderabadis to enjoy.

But, according to India Meterological Department (IMD) reports, the temperatures will be back to hot and humid after few days. The sudden surprise showers were due to a cyclonic circulation over southern parts of Odisha in association with trough extending up to south Telangana.

The rainfall activity is also likely to continue for the next two days across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and by February 13, rains are likely to vacate the region, reports read.

As per IMD data, the city experienced its third wettest day in February in past 10 years. the city received highest rainfall of 20.2mm on February 21, 2011 followed by 12mm on February 18, 2013 and 4.1mm on Feb 8, 2020.
