Hyderabad tops City Momentum Global Rankings

Hyderabad: In yet another proud moment for the city, Hyderabad leads the global charts in the JLL’s City Momentum Index (CMI). The London based JLL’s Index covered 131 major established and emerging markets and tracks a broad range of factors to identify cities that have the strongest short-term socio-economic and commercial real estate momentum, and those that have the future-proofing capacity for longer-term success.

Followed by Hyderabad is Bangalore at the second place, in the short-term momentum rankings category that ranks Global 30 Top Cities. Bangalore topped the category last year. According to the index, these two cities are undergoing significant change to their urban fabric as they build out the infrastructure to meet urgent demand.

Hyderabad fared well in all-round socio-economic momentum, that was evaluated keeping in view retail sales, population, air connectivity, corporate headquarters, foreign direct investment, etc.

Indian cities continue their dominance in the short-term momentum rankings with four of the top five markets, registering among the highest rates of demographic and economic growth globally, while also benefiting from government efforts to boost business attractiveness and invest in infrastructure. The country’s leading tech hubs Hyderabad and Bangalore take the two top positions, while Pune and Kolkata stand tall with fourth and fifth rankings respectively.
