Hyderabad: A senior official was caught on camera pushing reporters, including a woman from the 10TV on Thursday. The video shows Punjagutta ACP M. Venkateshwarlu shoving the woman journalist identified as Radhika after she questioned him. The woman , though taken aback, further questions him how he can manhandle a woman The incident happened outside Telangana chief minister's camp office 'Pragati Bhavan'.

The reporters were present to cover a protest staged by contract employees of the Health Department seeking enhancement of their wages, among other demands. Following the incident, Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy ordered an inquiry into the incident.

"The police did not even see that the protesters were women, and were thrashing and assaulting them. We were covering the event, and the police officer suddenly attacked us too. We are filing a complaint now," said Radhika.

The Telangana State Union of Working Journalists condemned the incident and submitted a memorandum to the state Director General of Police, Anurag Sharma, seeking action against the police officials.
