Hyderabad, The UPSC results that were released on Friday has made Hyderabad extremely proud. Krithika Jyotsna Mishra, resident of Hyderabad was declared the topper among the girls.

The challenges associated with public service and an opportunity to serve people drove the Krithika to take up IAS.

She bagged 30th rank and topped the Union Public Service Commission civil services exam, 2013, in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Among 1,122 aspirants selected this year by the UPSC for IAS, IPS, IFS and other Central services, she secured 30th rank.

The winners' list also includes 35 other candidates from the two states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Jaipur boy Gaurav Agrawal tops Civil Services Examination

For the first time in four years, a male candidate has topped the prestigious Civil Services Examination 2013, results of which were declared today. Gaurav Agrawal of Rajasthan has got the first rank in the exam with Economics as his optional subject.

He holds Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science) degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.

My family and all near and dear ones played a very important role in my success, Gaurav said from Hyderabad. He got 244 rank in the 2012 Civil Services Examination and was given Indian Police Service (IPS).

He is undergoing training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad. I used to study for 10-12 hours for my last exams. For 2013 Civil Services, I studied for about 6-8 hours, he said.

29-year-old Gaurav, who got through the exam in his second attempt, has also worked as investment banker with Citi Group in Hong Kong between 2008 and 2011.

Delhi-based Munish Sharma has got second position whereas 24-year-old Rachit Raj, who hails from Daltonganj in Jharkhand and lives in Ghaziabad, secured third position.

Munish has a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) degree from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. He got through the exam in second attempt. I am very happy.

My success is the result of hard work and blessings of my teachers and my mother, Munish told PTI. His mother is an English language teacher at a private school here. Raj credited his feat to his teachers and his parents. He has cracked the examination in his first attempt. Women had bagged the top slots in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Civil Services Examinations.

Bharti Dixit is the topper among female candidates. She has secured fifth rank. She has done Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi. This was her first attempt.

As many as 1,122 candidates have been recommended for appointment in Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other central services on the basis of the Civil Services Examination, 2013, said a release issued by the Ministry of Personnel. There are 15 males and 10 females in top 25 positions.
