Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested a cab driver identified as Tirumalesh on Monday for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old girl. The incident took place under RGI Airport police station limits. The victim, a college student, said that on her way to college, she boarded the cab heading towards Attapur. After travelling some distance, the cab driver halted the car on the pretext of fixing sunscreen on the windshields.

Later, Tirumalesh came close to the girl on the pretext of fixing sunscreen and then allegedly assaulted her. The girl raised an alarm at once and jumped out of the car. The girl then clicked the pictures of the car and the number plate, who then along with her parents filed a police complaint on the cabbie.

Crimes against women are on rise, despite SHE teams taking steps to curb the rate. Not only in the City, but recently national capital Delhi too reported a similar case where a man posing as Uber cab driver tried to kidnap and molest a woman. According to the police, the woman, who was waiting for a cab got into the car after the driver directed her to get into it. Believing it as her cab, the woman got into the cab. Later she realised that the car did not have a yellow number plate. The woman grew suspicious when the driver chose a different route and tried to jump out of the car.

Earlier, an Uber cab driver was arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a Delhi woman while she was on her way to the RGI airport in Hyderabad. The woman clicked a picture of the driver and narrated the whole incident on Facebook and filed an online complaint with the Hyderabad police.
