Raichur: In a tragic incident, a father and his daughter committed suicide after the girl's picture was uploaded on Facebook. The incident took place in Sindhanur in Raichur district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Basalingamma (20) and her father Ramana Gowda (55). Basalingamma was a PUC second-year-student.

Last week some youths clicked her images and uploaded on social media platform. When the girl came to know about it, she informed her father, who in turn questioned the youths on Sunday. The verbal spat between the parties escalated and the youths went on to assault Ramana Gowda. Feeling dejected, Ramana Gowda came back home and hanged himself to death from ceiling fan. The girl, who came to know about
her father's tragic death, drank poison and ended her life. The Balaganur police registered a case and are probing the matter.

In a similar incident, back home in Telangana, a couple along with their two kids
recently committed suicide at Kandoji Bazar under Mahankali police station limits. According to police, Swaroop (37), a native of Ghoshpara village of West Bengal, was working as a goldsmith at General Bazar in Secunderabad. He was staying at Kandoji Bazar with his wife Deepa (30) and two daughters. The elder daughter Thitli Das (5) was in Class 1 at BRJC School at Parklane. Their younger daughter was five-months old.
