Hyderabad: The polling for six MLC seats in Telangana registered a huge turn-out ranging from 95 to 99 percent on Sunday.Elections to local bodies' constituencies in four districts - Ranga Reddy, Mahbub Nagar, Nalgonda and Khammam completed peacefully. Of 12 seats fell vacant, six were won unanimously by the ruling TRS.

State Chief Election Officer Banwarlal told the media that all the voters except those belonging to CPI, CPM and CPI-ML (New Democracy) in Khammam and Nalgonda, exercised their vote. The Left parties boycotted the election. The counting of votes will be done on December 30. Due to some technical errors, re-polling will be held in one polling station each in Khammam and Nalgonda.

The TRS is expecting a seat in Nalgonda where it has only 138 members whereas the main opponent Congress has a strength of 548. The election was held for two seats each in Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar districts and one each in Nalgonda and Khammam.

The voting machines have been stored in strong rooms with adequate police protection, Banwarlal said adding that the contestants can also keep their own representatives near the strong rooms if they want to.
