On the night of Oct 16, 2012 MLA from Cantonment and former minister P Shankar Rao had fainted in front of the DGP’s office while trying to tell the media that he was not involved in any land grab as alleged by some people.

Shankar Rao was rushed to Care Hospital in Banjara Hills immediately.

According to sources he was discharged from the hospital recently and was said to be recovering.

But the story is not as simple as it looks. A few months ago Green Fields Colony Welfare Association president S. Chandrashekhar had moved a petition in a local court stating that Shankar Rao along with his brother P. Dayanand had forcibly occupied large tracts of land in the colony. In the petition it was stated that the brothers had occupied 870 plots in the colony by presenting false and forged documents that gave then ownership rights.

Sources said that fearing arrest, Dayand got a stay order from the High Court on for stopping investigation and the possible arrests. The stay was vacated last month and the police began probing the MLA and his brother in the case.

But within hours after the court vacated the stay order, both the brothers were 'untraceable' for three days.

The police tried to reach Shankar Rao over the phone but failed as all his mobile phones were switched off and there was no response to the calls made to the land line.

Police then went to his residence in Musheerabad where they were informed that he had gone on a pilgrimage to Maharashtra. But after three days Shankar Rao suddenly surfaced and dared police to arrest him.

High drama was witnessed at the Police Head Quarters for about 20 minutes on October 16 night when the MLA started accusing the police and blaming the media for spreading false allegations against him. He got agitated and fainted on the spot and was rushed to a hospital.

It is said that Shankar Rao, who is popularly known as Shankar anna, is fine and taking rest at his home.

Sources said that police have silently restarted the investigation.

But the question bothering both his followers and detractors is - How will Shankar Anna escape from the police this time?
