The current trends show BJP getting 42 seats in the state, with Congress getting 21.

Counting of votes polled in all the 68 Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh that went to the polls on November 9 began on Monday across the state, Chief Electoral Officer Pushpendra Rajput said.

Here are the latest updates and developments from Himachal elections results:

  • Congress wins Kasumpti seat in Himachal Pradesh with its candidate Anirudh Singh defeating BJP's Vijay Jyoti by a margin of 9,397 votes. The current trends show BJP getting 42 seats in the state, with Congress getting 21.

  • BJP spokesperson RP Singh said the win in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh is important but the party’s politics is beyond electoral wins. “We are running the government for the nation. Elections are important but as Modi ji puts it we are working to take the nation ahead on the global stage.”
  • The BJP is set to take power in Himachal Pradesh with its candidates on the victory lap in 36 of the 68 Assembly elections. Trends from counting centres across the hill state showed the Congress was ahead in 21 constituencies while smaller parties and independents had inched ahead of all others in three seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) needs 35 seats to control the Himachal Assembly. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh (Arki) and his son Vikramaditya Singh (Shimla Rural) are, however, ahead of their BJP rivals. State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti are trailing to the Congress from Una.
