YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appealed all the party activists and the generalpublic to take part in a state-wide protest on November 5 to demand full compensation to each and every Cyclone Hudhud-affected family and loan waiver to farmers and self-help groups (SHGs).

YS Jagan during his whirlwind tour of the Hudhud cyclone-hit areas said while Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been resorting to publicity blitz, at ground level nothing is being implemented

Excerpts from YS Jagan's media adress:

  • YS Jagan to sit on hunger strike for two days beginning from January 6 in Godavari districts
  • The farmers did not repay their loans believing that Chandrababu would waive them off. Now, the farmers are forced to pay Rs 28000 crore towards penalty for non-payment and interest for this year. The government has only allocated Rs 5000 crore this year for loan waiver. This is nothing but treachery.
  • The Hudhud has hit the farmers hard. Crops in at least 3.2 lakh hectares was totally lost and another 3 lakh hectares of crops suffered 50 per cent damage. These farmers will not get insurance cover as they have not re-paid loans. This situation has arisen only due to Chandrababu's folly.
  • 43.11 lakh pensioners have to not got their pensions between October and August 2013. While Rs 3650 crore were needed for paying welfare pensions, the TDP government has allocated only Rs 1338 crore
  • At all mandals of the state of Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP will stage dharnas to protest against the policies of the government.
  • Chandrababu Naidu should question himself as to how many of the assurances that he had given were fulfiled till date. Chandrababu Naidu had said he would waive the crop loans if he came to power. Advertisements were given and much publicity was given to this assurance.
  • Chandrababu had assured that he would affix his first signature on the file pertaining to the crop loan waiver. He assured to waive SHG loans.
  • At the 184th SLBC meet, Chandrababu admitted that crop loans worth 85000 crore and DWCRA loans worth Rs 14200 crore were to be waived off.

YS Jagan unveils 3-month protest programme
YS Jagan made a strong appeal to the people to join the party's massive state-wide dharnas at all mandal headquarters to protest against the failure of the Chandrababu Naidu government for its failure to implement its election eve promise of crop and DWCRA loan waiver.
At a media conference at the party office on Tuesday, YS Jagan unveiled a three-month long protest programmes. He would also sit on two-day hunger strike for two day starting from January 6 in the Godavari districts if the government fails to waive the loans. As part of the programme, On December 5, protests would be organised at all district collectorates.
