Will it? Won’t it?

Amid media hype and massive publicity exercise, high drama was enacted in the national capital on the issue of Special State Status.

While both the State and the Central Government have successfully relegated the issue of Special Status to the background, they brought to the fore a special package for the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Initially there was a frenzied activity in the Union Finance Ministry in the North Block as there were feelers that a package could be announced by Wednesday afternoon. Union Minister Sujana Chowdary made several rounds of the finance ministry office. At Vijayawada, Chandrababu held a series of parleys with key ministers.

Later in the evening, the media sources said that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley would announce the special package by 6 pm. Later, the presser was rescheduled to 8 pm. But, even then, no announcement was forthcoming.

Later, some media sources began reporting that Prime Minister’s nod was all that was left for the announcement. But, by 10.30, there were leaks that Chandrababu was sent a seven page document, outlining he details of the package. However, till 10.30 pm, the presser did not happen.
