The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday admitted the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking comprehensive inquiry into the recent bus accident in Mahabubnagar wherein 45 passengers were burnt alive.
Taking a serious note on the incident, the Court issued notices to Volvo owners, APS RTC, transportation departments of the State and Centre, RTA commissioners and Road safety authority on the incident. The court also directed them to respond on the notices in a week.
The petitioner sought action against private bus operators violating the conditions of permit. Seeking independent investigation on the incident, the petitioner urged the court to direct the officials to take necessary arrangements to prevent the accidents.
It may be recalled that 45 passengers were charred to death as a private Volvo bus burst into flames after its fuel tank caught fire in Mahabubnagar district, when it was coming from Bangalore to Hyderabad.
