Heavy thundershowers, 3 die of lightning in State
Thundershowers accompanied by heavy gales occurred at several places on Sunday and three persons were killed due to lightning in the State.
Heavy rains lashed the parts of the Srikakulam, Krishna, East Godavari, Guntur, Khammam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari districts. Trees were uprooted causing traffic disruptions. A man died while grazing sheep at Penasam village in Gantyada mandal of Vizianagaram, an RMP in Timminenipalem in Chintakani mandal of Khammam and Saiprasad, a student in Paderi Visakhapatnam district died when the lightning struck.
Mango crops were badly damaged in Srikakulam’s Saravakota mandal. Heavy rain lashed Nandigama, Vijayawada and several other parts in Krishna district with thunders. Electric poles fell down at Chilakaluripet in Guntur district. Traffic came to halt on Tatikonda-Amaravati road as trees were uprooted.
