Heavy rains lash Telangana region

Heavy rains lashed several parts of the Telangana region throwing normal life out of gear on Friday evening. The heavy downpour continued on Saturday too.

It is learnt that the sudden rainfall has damaged agricultural and horticultural crops besides claiming the lives of 6 people so far.

Roads were inundated, railway tracks were submerged in the water leading to vehicular and railway traffic snarls. Bhagyanagar Express and Sampark Kranthi Express suffered due to a fault in the signal system.

Heavy downpour continues to lash Nalgonda, Karimnagar and Khammam, affecting standing crops in many areas.

Sunflower, pepper, corn crops are worst affected. Cotton has submerged in the water at Armoor division in Nizamabad district, Balgonda constituency and Vanaparti and Nakirikel markets  in Mahbubnagar district.

Three persons died after electrocution in Nizamabad district. The deceased were identified as Gorre Narayana from Pitlam mandal, Renuka (Bitchkunda mandal) and  Bhumgonda (Gundekalluru).

Two persons died due to wall collapse at Andavelli in Adilabad district, while three others died when trees suddenly fell due to the stormy weather. Current poles and electric wires also fell in several places.
