Heavy rains lash A.P. , Low lying areas submerge

After disastrous battering by Hudhud cyclone, Andhra Pradesh is now facing heavy rains. Water in all major water bodies rose to risky levels while many ponds were breached due to untimely rains. 

Tungabhadra Dam: Water level in kurnool's Tungabadra dam's is 1632 feet with inflow of 11,033 cusecs and 6,484 cusecs outflow. The project presently reserves 98 T.M.C of water. 18 gates were opened letting 80 cuses of water to flow into Srisailam reservoir.

Low lying areas submerged: The heavy rains led to submergence of low lying areas in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Kadapa and Prakasam. Udayagiri in Nellore district recored highest rainfall of 214.2 mm.

Water released from Pulichintala : 90,740 cusecs of water from Pulichintala project is released  to Prakasam barrage by lifting nine crest gates as the storage capacity in the reservoir reached 11.67 tmc, posing a threat to villages in both Nalgonda and Guntur districts. Streams such as Naguleru, Chandarvanka, Erravagu and Musi were overflowing, Seven villages in Guntur district and four in Nalgonda were affected due to increased inflows.

Rayalaseema: Moderate to rather heavy rain or thunder showers affected many in Rayalaseema. Several rivulets and other water bodies were in flurry due the downpour, which flooded agriculture crops, disrupted road traffic at several places and many houses submerged in water letting people deal with sleepless nights.
