Hyderabad: Telangana will receive heavy rains for the next five days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Monday.

The weatherman said heavy rain is likely to occur in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medak and Nalgonda districts.

Met also predicted heavy rains in coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh for the next five days. Rains are likely to occur in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts.

“The reason for increased rainfall activities in Telangana is a low pressure area, which is lying off the Andhra Coast. This weather system will move in a westerly direction and further increase rain over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” said Y K Reddy, director in charge, IMD, Hyderabad.

The IMD prediction comes after the city witnessed a heavy downpour on Saturday and Sunday. The roads were inundated and people in many low laying areas had to face severe problem.

This summer, Hyderabad was one the cities which reeled under intense heat wave, wherein the maximum temperature was recorded at 41 degree Celsius. It has been estimated that heat wave has claimed over 249 lives.
