Hyderabad: Acting on a petition filed by AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in cash-for-vote case, the Hyderabad High Court on Friday issued a eight-week stay on the re-investigation of the scam by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau.

After hearing the arguments by the counsel of Chandrababu, the High Court issued the stay for eight weeks while asking the ACB to file a counter in the meantime.

Chandrababu approached the High Court seeking the quash of a re-investigation order by ACB which is believed to be specifically aimed at his role in the case. The order was passed by the ACB Principal Special Judge after YSR Congress Party MLA Akella Ramakrishna Reddy filed a petition seeking a thorough investigation into Chandrababu’s role as the voice in the audio tape belongs to him.

However, Chandrababu Naidu argued that the MLA did not have locus standi in the case and sought the re-investigation order be quashed. While granting the stay, the court ordered the ACB’s special public prosecutor to file a counter detailing their argument.

While Chandrababu Naidu heaved a sigh of relief after the stay, Mangalagiri MLA said he will approach the Supreme Court to revive the re-investigation order.
