High Court issued notices to NTR University of Health Sciences and NCC directorate directing them to file their counter within two weeks

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed Andhra Pradesh government to consider Intermediate as ‘qualifying examination’ and not EAMCET as to who would be preferred for the 1 percent NCC quota for admission into undergraduate courses.

The division bench found fault with Health, Medical and Family Welfare department for giving wrong interpretation to the expression ‘qualifying examination’

Hearing a petition filed by R Josthna of Nellore, the division comprising of Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice Anis issued notices to NTR University of Health Sciences and NCC directorate directing them to file their counter within two weeks.

Petitoner Josthna said that GO Ms No.111, on September 3, 2015 passed by AP government is having an adverse affect on students like her. The division bench found fault with Health, Medical and Family Welfare department for giving wrong interpretation to the expression ‘qualifying examination’.

The bench directed AP authorities to give priority to those who obtained NCC A, B and C prior to their appearing for Intermediate exam and not to those who have obtained the certificates prior to EAMCET.

“EAMCET is only a competitive examination, you cannot define it as a qualifying examination,“ the bench told the AP government.
