Hazardous Adulteration Found In Ice-Creams, Sweets In City Outlets

Hyderabad: Beware of your favorite ice-cream as nearly 10 people were arrested on Thursday for adulteration of foods in confectioneries. On a tip-off, the Task Force officials conducted simultaneous raids on ice-cream parlors and sweet shops in Langer Houz, Golconda, Shahinayathgunj, Lalaguda, Chilakalguda, Marredpally, Musheerabad, Amberpet, Bhavani Nagar and Madannapet and found the food items adulterated with dangerous chemicals.

The officials observed that hazardous ingredients were used in preparation of ice-creams at Dairy Bell Ice Cream Parlour in Langar Houz, Cream Bite ice cream Parlour in Golconda, Best Ice Cream Parlour in Lalaguda, Rits Topsy Ice Cream Parlour in Chilkalguda, Fateen Ice Cream Parlour in Bhavani Nagar, Blazy Ice Cream Parlour in Madannapet, Om Sai Bharath Ice Cream Parlour in Amberpet, Sindhu Food Lines & Ice Cream Parlour in Musheerabad. Apart from ice cream parlor, sweet shops - Ramsingh Sweet House in Shahinayathgunj - was also raided.

"They were adulterating ice creams by mixing non-ISI certified milk powder, expired synthetic colours, electrolysis chemical powders and vanaspati. Sweets, especially petha, were being adulterated by mixing white wash cement, phitkari, sodium hydro sulphide and artificial food colours. Tomato, chilli sauces and vinegar are being manufactured illegally without licence," said B. Limba Reddy, Task Force DCP.

The accused are - Haji Abdul Gaffar, Yousuf Khan, Md Khadeer, Md Yousuf, Md Fazil, Md Abdul Mannan, B Narsing Rao, Ramsingh and Chin Chi Sheng.
