Gurugram: The police lathicharged agitators outside Ryan International School in Gurugram on Sunday after a seven-year-old boy had been found murdered on Friday.

Angry parents and locals gathered outside the school premises since Sunday morning to express dissatisfaction over the investigation being carried out by the police. They also demanded a CBI probe into the gruesome murder.

The protest took a violent turn as the agitating crowd set a liquor shop on fire that was close to the school. The police then resorted to lathicharge to bring the situation under control and disperse the protesters.

Victim Pradyuman Thakur, who was studying class 2, was found murdered in the school's bathroom. His throat was slit. The relatives and locals alleged that the bus conductor murdered the boy after sexually assaulting him.

On Saturday, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said that careless educational institutes like the Ryan International School on whose premises a seven-year-old student was murdered would not be spared.

"Stern action will be taken against the guilty. The administration is working closely to solve the murder mystery of Pradyuman," Sharma told media here. "The district administration (Gurugram) is actively engaged in solving the case. I will myself visit Gurugram on Sunday," the minister said. "The school management should look at the behavior of the driver and the conductor and the buses in which children arrive should be safeguarded," the minister added.
