Voting for the first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections has began. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on the people from his home turf to vote in large number. On his official Twitter handle he posted...

South Gujarat and Saurashtra which include key districts like Kutch, Surendranagar, Morbi Ambreli, Rajkot, Junagadh will vote today. The first phase of polling will see a total of 89 out of 182 constituencies going to vote from 8am to 5pm.

Why Gujarat Election Is A Big Deal And For Whom?

All eyes are on the outcome of the Gujarat elections as it's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home turf and there's a strong fight between Modi and Congress' President Rahul Gandhi. The Gujarat outcoming will have a bearing on the 2019 General elections. If BJP loses Gujarat, it could be a tough fight in the 2019 polls. The Gujarat polls also holds a great signifance for Rahul Gandhi who has done a lot of talking in the state of late. A few of speeches also evoked a positive reponse while some turned controversial. Congress is betting big on this one as this will decide the future of the Congress party and its chief. If the party does well in Gujarat, it could become a gamechanger as Rahul will take on Modi head-on in the 2019 General Elections.

Another Candidate to Watch out for is none other than the controversial leader Hardik Patel this will be litmus test for him. If Hardik can swing the Patridar votes in favour of Congress, there will be no looking back for him. He might also become a candidate to watch out for in the 2019 polls.

So Gujarat elections will seal the fate of these three key candidates. Now, it remains to be seen who will emerge winner of the three.
