Chandrababu’s Latest Antics In AP Assembly

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Chandrababu Naidu appears to have lost his mental balance judging from the strange arguments he has been making over power purchase agreements (PPAs). The TDP insists that PPAs it had undertaken should not be reviewed even if it means a lower power tariff. While chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asserted that many projects are riddled with corruption and that the state would benefit through a process of reverse tendering, the TDP questions the rationale behind such a system. Similarly, when it comes to illegal constructions on the banks of River Krishna, Chandrababu Naidu once again questions the government's move as if it were something in violation of law, while the reverse is true. Further, the former cheif minister made baseless observations saying that people across the state are gripped by a sense of fear following the demolition of illegal constructions especially since his house was being razed on this count.
In fact, the question from the Opposition should have been as to why the government is not demolishing illegal structures. What we are witnessing in Andhra Pradesh is quite the reverse.
AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is moving forward responsibly keeping up the spirit of the law. He has repeatedly pointed out that people in high positions violate the law, that would send a wrong signal to society at large. unable to counter the government's steps with rational arguments, Chandrababu Naidu brought in the topic of statues of late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy in different parts of the state. This is the reason why one tends to feel that he has lost his sense of balance.
Senior YSRCP leader and Sattenapalli MLA Ambati Rambabu indignantly demanded to know why Chandrababu Naidu during his tenure had got the statue of late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy removed from the traffic island near the police control room in Vijayawada.
Amabati found it strange that Chandrababu Naidu should be talking of the constitution and the democracy, he said, considering he had bought 23 YSRCP MLAs during his term and made four of them ministers in his Cabinet. What happened to his respect for the constitution then, questioned the YSRCP Sattenapalli MLA. he also remarked that Chandrababu Naidu was unable to bear the development trajectory which was being fast-tracked by YS Jagan.
A video surfaced in which Chandrababu Naidu reportedly stated that barring one building in which he was a tenant and described as government building, he said that the others would be demolished and the area developed for tourism purposes. Is this true? Did it turn into a private building after Chandrababu's defeat. Further, he built a grievance hall and demanded that it should be given to him after he became leader of the opposition, forgetting that it was an illegal construction all the way. Is it what 40 years of political experience taught him?
Environmentalists had also spoken vocally against these illegal constructions. Today, Chandrababu Naidu speaks in defence of such illegal constructions. What he seems to forget is that illegal constructions in villages and municipalities have to dealt with in a certain fashion but illegal building along river beds are bound by strict rules. Buildings constructed in violation of the law by the banks of a river are not permitted anywhere and yet not only did Chandrababu bulldoze his way to do so, but defends such illegalities. He probably thinks that he continues to stay in an illegally constructed building and if the government goes ahead and demolishes it, he would gain some public sympathy.
