At the outset, congratulations to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao for securing a win in Telangana by fighting alone for the second time. This is a victory for KCR since the public have clearly delivered a mandate in favour of one leader. When KCR, KTR and Harish Rao predicted 80 to 100 seats for the TRS, it was a bit surprising since many had doubts over a grand victory for TRS. It was KTR and Harish Rao who had contributed the most in addition to KCR in the election rallies.

It should be said that KTR was behind the TRS's success in Greater Hyderabad. Similarly, Harish Rao fulfilled his job of covering certain districts during the campaign. More than anything, KCR's strategy, his acumen, speeches and attitude attracted the masses. While rejecting the Congress's line of multiple leaders, the public accepted KCR's leadership. KCR fully encashed the public's suspicion over an outsider who would lead the Congress.

The people of Telangana should be credited for giving utmost importance to the sentiments and self-respect. KCR rolled out two flagship schemes before calling for early polls. Both schemes--Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bheema, both have worked well for the TRS. In addition to other welfare schemes, the two flagship schemes helped TRS create a positive environment in villages. All sections of the Backward Classes--Yadavs, Gouds and handloom weavers, have benefited from KCR's schemes.

It should be said that the idea of double bedroom houses itself is a great initiative. While the TRS gained public support for the Kaleshwaram project, Congress leaders earned disrepute for threatening to block the land acquisition for irrigation projects. There is a sizable majority of people who thought KCR's defeat would have meant interruption in the government schemes.

The Praja Kutami leaders were involved in undemocratic practices and have struggled to oppose KCR's schemes. On top it, the Congress leaders said they would offer better benefits in the current schemes. While opposing the double bedroom scheme, the Congress leaders offered to provide Rs 5 lakh and the rent amounts.

At a time when there was little scope for implementation of Rs 1 lakh farm loan waiver, the Congress promised to waive loans worth Rs 2 lakh. Yet, the public reposed their faith in KCR. Although there was opposition against certain TRS MLAs, the voters ignored it thanks to KCR's leadership.

Quite clearly, the people of Telangana realized that there was a fair amount of sincerity in KCR's words. For the same reason, the public didn't mind KCR's behaviour and attitude. Nevertheless, the people of the State elected KCR once again. They have protected the self-respect of Telangana.
