Great Land Grab in AP Capital: MLAs or Landsharks?

Vijayawada: Capital lands are prime lands now, particularly those in the commercial zone. The prices Here is how TDP MLAs have taken over huge chunks of realty in the capital area:

Payyavula Keshav: TDP senior leader from Rayalaseema Payyavula Keshav owns 4.09 acres in the commercial zone of the Capital area. He paid a mere Rs 12.27 lakh to the farmers and the same chunk now costs around Rs 8 crore.

Though three different places were being shown as the possible capital areas, TDP leaders had inside information that the capital would be constructed in Amaravati. Using this information, Payyavula Keshav swooped in on the Capital area all the way from Anantapur. He purchased lands in Ainavolu village and registered the land in the name of his eldest son Payyavula Vikramasimha.

Dhulipala Narendra: This TDP MLA from Ponnur has used multiple regstrations mode to grab poramboke lands in Maburu near Pedakakani in an extent of 50 acres. He showed these lands as belonging to one Sambasiva Rao, with general power of attorney for U Kirankumar, A ravikiran and V P Achireddy. Then documents were produced to show that these lands were sold to Devara Pullaiah. This way a total of 50 acres of poramboke lands in the area.

Kommalapati Sridhar: Pedakurapadu MLA Kommalapati Sridhar also owns Abhinandana Housing Pvt Ltd. Sridhar owns 42 acres of land run by his real estate venture, near the capital city. He had stopped all registrations for the 42 acres of venture as soon as the new capital city was announced. About 3,000 people who had already bought plots in the 42-acre venture are now crying foul. But who is listening? Because Lokesh had already instructed revenue officials to bypass those 42 acres from land pooling. The result - Lokesh gets his cut in the Rs. 210 crore worth venture.

Haailand Story: Haailand is a theme based entertainment park spread over 85.13 acres worth about Rs. 425 crore. The park is owned by the now defamed AgriGold company that duped 32 lakh depositors to the tune of Rs. 6,850 crore. Multiple cases were filed against the company.
AP ministers sensed an opportunity and made an offer to the AgriGold management - "Give us Haailand, we will bail you out from the case". Thus the property of Haailand went to the TDP "leadership".
