Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has topped in tax collections among 22 cities in the country by collecting around Rs 188 crore in 10 days towards property tax and other utility bills with the demonetized Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.
A GHMC official said that the receipts of taxes at 22 urban civic bodies were analyzed by the union ministry urban development, which revealed that there was 312.04 percent increase in revenues till November 19, when compared to the entire month last year.

Incidentally, the 22 corporation collected Rs 274 crore in property tax in November last year, while it collected Rs 875 crore this year in November in just 19 days.
