GHMC Teams Begin Extensive Survey On Nalas and Encroached Lakes
Hyderabad: Enabled with old maps and aided with the boons of modern technology such as GIS, Autocad and Toposheets, 32 special teams from the GHMC began surveying the nalas and encroachment on city lakes on Tuesday.
23 main nalas were inspected between Kapra, Uppal LB Nagar and Chaitanyapuri . According to the chief city planner, GHMC S Devender Reddy unauthorised constructions on nalas and lakes have been identified. Measurements have been taken on day one of the survey but officials would take 20-25 days to study each major nala stretch.
A report would then be compiled based on the details of the survey. Demolitions would subsequently be taken up based on the orders of the government.
The urban community development wing is meanwhile collecting details of the BPL families who have constructed houses on nalas. These families would be rehabilated at JNNURM or the two-bedroom flats built by the state government.
