Gazette notification on new excise policy issued

The State Government on Monday issued a Gazette notification on new excise policy. It has been decided to retain all the 6,596 liquor shops across the State.

The Government has set an annual licence fee of Rs 32.5 lakh for areas having population of more than 10,000. The licence fee will be Rs 34 lakhs for towns with a population of above 10,000 and below 50,000, Rs 42 lakhs for above 50,000 and below 3 lakh population, Rs 46 lakhs for towns above 3 lakhs and below 5 lakh population, Rs 64 lakhs for above 5 lakhs and below 20 lakh cities and Rs.1.4 crore for cities having population of more than 20 lakhs. The six-level slab system has been introduced after making minor changes in the previous year policy. The liquor shops have to pay an additional Rs 2 lakhs part from the licence fee for room permit.
