Gali Janardhana Reddy Converted Rs100 Crore Black Money By Paying Rs20 Crore Commission
Hyderabad: Mining baron and former BJP minister Gali Janardhana Reddy had converted Rs100 crore black money into white to spend for his daughter's wedding, according to a suicide note left by Ramesh Gowda, the driver to special land acquisition officer Bheema Nayak in Bengaluru.
Ramesh consumed poison and died in Maddur on Wednesday. He claimed in his suicide note that he was receiving death threats because he knew how Reddy had converted Rs100 crore of black money into white. The driver also alleged that 20 percent commission was paid to Bheema Nayak for helping Reddy in converting his unaccounted money.
The mining baron, who spent three years and four months in prison, is out on a conditional bail in corruption cases related to the multi-crore mining scam in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Reports had claimed that Reddy spent Rs 500 crore on his daughter Bramhani's wedding on November 16. He was in news last month for his daughter's lavish marriage function.
The blockbuster wedding of Reddy's daughter marked by extravagant opulence was performed at the sprawling Palace Grounds in Bengaluru, raising a firestorm of controversy. The five-day extravaganza with ceremonies held against the backdrop of lavish settings was reported to have cost Rs500 crore. The ostentatious wedding stirred a huge row over its timing when people across the country are reeling under severe cash crunch after demonetisation of high value currencies on November 8.

In his suicide letter, which CNN-News18 claimed to have in possession, Ramesh has alleged that Bhima Naik was holding the following properties. Here is the translated version of the letter.

On 28/10/2016 he had met B Sriramulu and Janardhana Reddy at Parijatha Guest House. Kotresh Naik of Hadagali was also with them. Had agreed to pay Rs.25 crore to Sriramulu and Reddy for BJP Assembly ticket from Hagaribommanahalli in 2018 assembly election.
On 15/11/2016 – Bhima Naik met Reddy at Taj Hotel. Told me that he had given Rs.25 crore white money to Reddy.
He has visited Sriramulu’s house several times in his car - KA-05 MT 4449 and KA 03 MU 8964
He has converted about Rs.100 Crore old notes into Rs.50,100 and 2000 currencies for 20% commission.
Since I knew about laundering I was threatened and assaulted. Even the goondas were sent to attack me.
My sister’s son Manoj Gowda should lit my funeral pyre. I am grateful to all my friends. I hold Bhima Naik and his driver Mohammed responsible for my death.
