Two days after staking claim to form the government in Tamil Nadu, V K Sasikala on Saturday sought an appointment with Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to parade MLAs supporting her before him. Sasikala said she believed that the Governor would "act immediately to save the sovereignty of the Constitution, democracy and the interest" of Tamil Nadu.
Caretaker Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam got a shot in the arm when two AIADMK Lok Sabha MPs on Saturday joined his camp. AIADMK MPs from Namakkal and Krishnagiri, P R Sundaram and K Ashok Kumar on Saturday extended support to Panneerselvam, who has raised a banner of revolt against V K Sasikala.
Sasikala addressed party workers at Poes Garden residence and assured them that the party will come out victorious in its present hour of crisis. The AIADMK leader said their patience also had a limit. AIADMK was a "strong fort" which cannot be "shaken" by anybody, Sasikala said.
In a major boost to Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, School Education Minister K Pandiarajan on Saturday joined his dissident camp, becoming the first sitting minister to do so. Pandiarajan arrived at the Greenways Road residence of Panneerselvam with his supporters and joined his group in the presence of other dissident leaders, including former Minister K P Munsamy and Rajya Sabha MP V Maithreyan.
