Floyd Mayweather eyeing Newcastle United, Cristiano Ronaldo?

In a sensational confession, Boxing King Floyd "Money" Mayweather suggested he
may be tempted into buying English club Newcastle United and would try and persuade his "buddy" Cristiano Ronaldo to joining him. The 41-year-old retired superstar has suggested that he could be interested in launching a takeover bid of the Premier League outfit.

"You better believe if I were to invest in Newcastle I would be back partying there often," Mayweather was quoted as saying to Daily Star, in an announcement that shook the footballing world.

Mayweather's claim comes after Newcastle were put on sale last October with Sports Direct and club owner Mike Ashley keen to sell the North east giants quickly. It is learnt that the former boxer claimed he would be ready to invest in Newcastle United under the right project and that he could bring his friend Cristiano Ronaldo alomg.

"I love Newcastle, these boys like to celebrate as hard as in any city in the world, I got to know some of the players last year and they are good guys," he explained. "I am always looking at new business opportunities and I love all sports but I invest with my head and not my heart. Invest with the heart is the fastest way to lose money but if someone puts together a business plan then my people can look at it and tell me if I can make money, then I would invest. Maybe football is not my game but I have connections everywhere," he said.

In what could turn out to be a Premier League comeback for five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently with Spanish club Real Madrid, Mayweather is keen to bond with his friend. "Cristiano is a friend of mine for a long time and he could even finish his career in Newcastle," he added.

Newcastle United are currently in 13th place in the Premier League standing with 32 points after 30 games played.
