Fight for Babuji’s ideals: YS Jagan

Reaffirming that the ideals of Babu Jagjivan Ram are relevant event today and the downtrodden and marginalized sections should be made part of the development process, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said it is a matter of shame that the TDP government has not been able to spend the funds allocated under SC and ST sub-plan to the full extent.

‘On this day we rededicate ourselves for the uplift of SCs which was the main aim of leaders like Babuji and Ambedkar and fight it out with the Government in getting all the funds sanctioned benefitting the intended sections,’ the Leader of Opposition said after paying homage to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary in YSR Kadapa district on Tuesday.
His ideals are relevant even today and the State Government should question itself, if it has been passing on the benefits to the proposed sections and the answer would be in the negative.
‘We have raised the issue in the Assembly as well and highlighted the failure of the State in spending the amount earmarked for SCs and STs in the sub-plan which is nothing short of depriving them of being part of the development process,’ he said adding that it was the constitutional right for downtrodden to get the funds but Chandrababu Naidu government has given scant respect to it.
He has also ignored the constitutional duty of setting up Tribes Advisory Committee which is mandatory under Schedule V for the simple reason that the ST MLAs should hold two-thirds of the posts and TDP has no numbers as YSRCP has nearly swept tribal seats in the State.
