Vijayawada: Five students of Fathima Medical College whose admissions were nullified by Supreme Court on Sunday threatened to commit suicide by jumping from a cell tower at Gunadala near here. The father of one of the affected students also joined them on the cell tower and they all threatened to kill themselves by jumping off the tower if the government continued to ignore their issue even after 28 days of their agitation.

Tensions prevailed in the area since morning as the students and the man climbed the cell tower and announced that they will jump to kill themselves as their lives are affected beyond repair with the cancellation of their medical seats at Fathima Medical College. Blaming Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for the sorry state of affairs, they said they lost all hopes on him and trust in his words.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government will be held responsible if anything happens to the students. He already wrote a letter to the government seeking justice to Fathima Medical College students whose admissions were nullified by Supreme Court.

Vijayawada city YSRCP in-charge Vellampally Srinivas criticised the government for ignoring the problem forcing the students to take serious steps.
