Father Killed Soni, It Was Not Self Immolation For Gattuppal  

Gattuppal (Nalgonda): Mystery has been unspooled days after the death of Budige Soni (18) on October 14.

Nalgonda DSP S. Sudhakar said that Soni didn’t kill herself demanding Gattuppal mandal but was killed by her father over a petty issue. The police said the day fatal mishap took place when Krishnaiah and his two daughters were at home and his wife went to participate in a protest program demanding carving out Gattuppal as a mandal in Nalgonda.

“Krishnaiah abused his daughters after knowing that his two wheeler was taken by his son Shekhar. While Manasa went out of the house, he hit Soni on head in a fit of rage. Soni fell unconscious and was bleeding profusely,” said Sudhakar.

Later, he took her to bathroom and doused with kerosene and set her on fire, he added. A case has been registered against Krishnaiah and probe is on.

It may be recalled that amid tight security Soni's last rites were performed and Section 144 was imposed in the village and did not allow people to come out from the house during the funeral procession.
