Farmer Electrocuted, Body Hangs From Power Pole

Tragedy struck Varikolu village in Koheda mandal of Siddipet district on Monday. A farmer was electrocuted while repairing a transformer. The farmer, identified as Veera Reddy, decided to replace the fuse of the faulty transformer. Even as he was doing this by climbing up the electric pole, power supply resumed and he did of electrocution. His body was hanging from the pole for quite sometime before the power supply was cut off again. The body was later retrieved.

Locals said that due to the faulty transformer, the crops were being damaged. The locals decided to repair the transformer as the power officials did not come on time. They informed the power department officials about the repair and wanted them to switch off power. However, the power supply was restored even before the repairs could be completed.

Local villagers and farmers staged a dharna against the power officials.
