False election promise kills farmer and his mother

A 60-year-old debt-ridden farmer allegedly poisoned his mother before committing suicide in Warangal.

B Komuraiah, of Boorugupadu village in Telangana's Warangal district, last night poisoned his 80 yr old mother Mutthava and then consumed the poisonous substance himself. 

He was depressed as he was unable to repay a loan he had taken for farming since his cotton and other crops got damaged due to lack of proper irrigation facilities, a circle inspector at Dornakal said. He was hoping for a loan waiver to be implemented.

The village sarpanch informed the police about the incident. Later, the bodies were sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered in this connection, police said adding that further investigation was on.
