Extend the Deadline for Invalidation of Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes, YS Jagan Writes To PM Modi

Even while welcoming the demonetization of high value currency, YSRCP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the Union Government to address the problems being faced by the farmers, rural workforce, small traders, unorganised sector and daily wage earners due to liquidity issues that arose due to the demonetization.

He wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, copies of which have been released to the media.

COMMON MAN’S WOES: Reminding that 100-year-old Anakapalli jaggery wholesale market was closed for the first ever time due to cash crunch, he wanted the Governmnt to take further steps in making the life of a common citizen. He said the issues of bank access, farmer's woes should be taken into consideration. Further, he pointed out that 90 per cent of the transactions in rural areas are taking place by cash. With the liquidity crunch, there sections are facing several poblems.

TTD FOUNTAINHEAD OF CORRUPTION: Reiterating that his party has always been advocating black money from politics, he reminded that even Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao is on record admitting that he had spent Rs 11 crore to win elections. He said the black money amassed by Chandrababu Naidu was used to by off 20 MLAs and 2 MLCs of YSRCP. In neighbouring Telangana, TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was caught on camera bribing a TRS MLA during MLC elections. Even Chandrababu's voice was caught on tape. Despite complaints, no action was taken on these issues, he pointed out.

CHANDRABABU HAD FOREKNOWLEDGE OF DEMONETISATION: Alleging that Chandrababu had foreknowledge about demonetization as he managed to sell his Heritage retail business two or three days before the announcement at Rs 909 per share, a good 450 per cent hike over the original price.

EXTEND DEADLINE FOR EXCHANGE OF NOTES: He asked Prime Minister to constitute a committee of MPs, farmers associations, business community leaders etc to look into the issue. He also asked the Prime Minister to extend the deadline for invalidation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
